I. Introduction to CSCA


1.The Chinese Standardized Test for College Admission (CSCA) is a standardized exam designed for international students planning to pursue undergraduate degrees in China.

2.Organized by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and jointly developed with experts from Chinese universities, CSCA aims to assess students’ language proficiency and academic foundation. It helps students better prepare academically for undergraduate studies in China. Meanwhile, CSCA scores serve as one of the important references for Chinese universities in undergraduate admissions and scholarship evaluation.


II. USTB’s Requirements for CSCA


Applicants for undergraduate programs must submit their CSCA transcripts.

1. Professional Chinese Transcript (for Chinese-taught programs)

(1) Liberal Arts Chinese: English, Japanese, German, Public Administration, Social Work, Law, Accounting, International Economy and Trade, Financial Engineering, Big Data Management and Application, Information Management and Information Systems, Visual Communication Design

(2) Science Chinese: All other undergraduate programs

2. Mathematics Transcript

A mathematics transcript is required for all program applications. The exam for Environmental Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering is in English; all other programs use Chinese for the mathematics exam.

3. Physics or Chemistry Transcript

Applicants for science, engineering, or agricultural programs must submit a transcript for either Physics or Chemistry.(Excluding programs in English, Japanese, German, Public Administration, Social Work, Law, Accounting, International Economy and Trade, Financial Engineering, Big Data Management and Application, Information Management and Information Systems, Visual Communication Design)

Note:The university admits students based on their performance in each subject, selecting the most qualified candidates.

IV. Exam Schedule


1.The first global CSCA exam will be launched on December 21, 2025. Starting from 2026, CSCA will enter regular operation with a fixed exam cycle, held 5 times a year in January, March, April, June, and December.

2.Exams in December, April, and June will primarily cover the Asia-Pacific region, while those in January and March will focus more on Europe and the Americas. This arrangement ensures candidates worldwide can choose a suitable exam time regardless of their time zone.


V. Exam Format


Initially, the exam will be mainly conducted as an online proctored test at home. Meanwhile, offline test centers (for computer-based or paper-based exams) will be gradually established in key source countries and regions.


VI. Score-related Information


1.All CSCA subjects are scored on a 100-point scale. Scores are for reference only, and each participating university sets its own admission standards based on program requirements.

2.Score release times vary by exam format. Results for online proctored home exams and offline computer-based exams will be announced within 7 working days after the exam. Paper-based exam results will be released within 14 working days after the exam.

VIII. Registration and Exam Process


1.Visit the official CSCA website:www.csca.cn

2.Carefully read the exam registration guidelines, complete registration, and prepare for the exam.

(Note: USTB requires undergraduate applicants to submit CSCA transcripts including two mandatory subjects: Chinese and Mathematics. Applicants for science, engineering, or agricultural programs must also submit a transcript for either Physics or Chemistry.)

3.After receiving exam results, submit them along with other application materials for undergraduate programs.
