2026 USTB High Level Postgraduate Program of CSC
I. Program Introduction
1.The Chinese Government Scholarship "High-Level Postgraduate" Program selects international students with excellent academic backgrounds, outstanding professional capabilities, and potential for future development, following the principles of individual application, university recommendation, expert review, and admission based on merit.
2.Recipients of the Chinese Government Scholarship shall not concurrently receive other scholarships established by Chinese governments at all levels or universities (excluding one-time awards of all types).
3.Applications for the Chinese Government Scholarship shall not be entrusted to any individual or agency for handling. Applicants are requested to consult the university directly and submit applications in person.
II. Scholarship Benefits and Duration
Scholarship Benefits: Tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, living allowance, and medical insurance.
Duration:
Master’s program: 2 or 3 years
Doctoral program: 4 years
Chinese Language Training: 1 year (for programs taught in Chinese; students with only HSK Level 4 must complete an additional year of Chinese language training).
III. Application Period
November 1, 2025 – March 15, 2026
Note: Once the application is completed, it will enter the review process and the review result will be determined. Recruitment will stop when quotas are filled, so please apply as early as possible.
IV. Applicable Programs
All master’s and doctoral programs are open for application.
V. Eligibility Requirements
1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.
2.Academic background and age requirements for applicants:
1).Applicants for master’s programs in China must hold a bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.
2).Applicants for doctoral programs in China must hold a master’s degree and be under 40 years old.
3.Applicants must have a certain language proficiency (mandatory):
1)For programs taught in Chinese: Must have passed at least HSK Level 4.
2)For programs taught in English (if English is not the official language of the applicant’s home country): Must submit an IELTS score report (6.0 or above), a TOEFL score report (80 or above), or other official English proficiency certificates.
VI. Application and Review Process
1.Applicants submit applications through the Chinese Government Scholarship System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn), select "Type B", and enter the university code "10008" (no "Pre-Admission Letter" is required for the initial application).
2.Applicants submit applications through the USTB Application System (onlineapply.ustb.edu.cn) and pay the application fee (the application fee is non-refundable regardless of the admission result).
3.The university will review the application materials and issue a "Pre-Admission Letter" to applicants who pass the review.
4.Applicants upload the "Pre-Admission Letter" to the Chinese Government Scholarship System.
5.The university will recommend the review results to the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
VII. Application Materials
Please upload the following electronic materials to the USTB Application System (onlineapply.ustb.edu.cn):
1.Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form (Program Type: Type B; Institution Code: 10008).
2.First page of passport. The passport must be valid for at least one year beyond September 2026; otherwise, a new passport must be renewed in a timely manner.
3.Notarized bachelor’s and master’s degree certificates (if applicable). For current students, a pre-graduation certificate or enrollment certificate issued by the school currently attended must be submitted.
4.Academic transcripts:
1)Transcripts should cover academic records from undergraduate, master’s (if applicable), and doctoral (if applicable) studies up to the most recent semester.
2)Transcripts must be issued and sealed by the Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, or relevant student administration department of the school attended.
3)Transcripts must include all courses and the weighted average score or average score.
4)Transcripts may be submitted in Chinese or English; if in a language other than Chinese or English, an additional English translation with notarization is required.
5.Language proficiency certificate:
1)For programs taught in Chinese: A valid HSK Level 5 score report must be provided (students with HSK Level 4 must complete an additional year of Chinese language training).
2)For programs taught in English: An IELTS score report (6.0 or above), a TOEFL score report (80 or above), or other official English proficiency certificates must be provided (exempt for students from countries where English is the official language).
6.Study plan: Written in Chinese or English, with a minimum of 1,000 words. For doctoral program applicants, the study plan must be signed by the supervisor who will accept the applicant.
7.Two recommendation letters: Provided by professors or associate professors in relevant disciplines. The content should focus on the applicant’s goals for studying in China, as well as an evaluation of the applicant’s comprehensive abilities and future development potential. Letters may be written in Chinese or English.
8.Foreigners Physical Examination Form: Valid within 6 months.
9.Non-criminal record certificate: Applicants must submit a valid non-criminal record certificate issued by the local public security authority, which should generally be issued within 3 months before the application submission date.
10.Supervisor’s acceptance letter (applicants for the "High-Level Program" must contact a potential supervisor in advance).
11.List and abstracts of published academic papers, and other original academic achievements (if applicable).
12.Portfolio: Applicants for programs in art, design, etc., must submit a portfolio (e.g., videos, paintings, etc.) (if applicable).
Note: No "Pre-Admission Letter" is required during the initial application stage. After passing the review, USTB will provide an electronic Pre-Admission Letter. Applicants must supplement and submit it in the Chinese Government Scholarship System to complete the scholarship application.
