Introduction of USTB
University of Science and Technology Beijing was founded in 1952 and has developed into one of the most influential key national universities in China. Its main focus is on engineering, while maintaining a balanced program consisting of science, management, humanities, economics and law.
USTB is part of the 211 Project, which is designed to develop a hundred first rate universities in the 21st century. In 2006, USTB was selected as the “Platform for National Advanced Disciplines Innovation” program. In 2014, the “Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology”, led by USTB and Northeastern University, was chosen to be part of the national “2011 Plan”. In 2017, USTB was selected as one of universities and colleges for the “Double-First Class” initiative, which aims to ultimately build a number of world-class universities and disciplines.
USTB has proactively aligned itself with global frontiers, strengthened international cooperation, and established close and friendly collaborative relationships with over 260 universities and research institutions at home and abroad—including RWTH Aachen University (Germany), Tohoku University (Japan), the University of Cambridge (UK), and the University of Michigan (USA). It has thus built a new pattern for international exchange and cooperation, with its internationalized education standards significantly enhanced.

In 2019, Safety Science and Engineering, as well as Artificial Intelligence Science and Engineering, were selected into the list of "High-Precision and Cutting-Edge Disciplines Construction" for universities in Beijing.

Special Programs
1.Bachelor Program: International Economics and Trade (1+3)
A basic level of Chinese proficiency is sufficient, and submission of the HSK Level 4 certificate is not required. Students will study Chinese language and basic courses in the first year, and professional courses from the second to the fourth year. Upon completion of the graduation requirements, they will be awarded a bachelor's degree in International Economics and Trade
2.MBA Program (English-Taught)
This is a professional degree program taught in English, offered by the School of Economics and Management for international students. The School of Economics and Management has obtained three international accreditations: AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS. Leveraging the school’s distinctive disciplinary strengths, outstanding faculty, and high level of internationalization, the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) MBA Program has developed a comprehensive training system and distinct training features through over 20 years of development, consistently delivering high-quality education.
Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree or above, with no restrictions on their undergraduate major.

1.Submit an online application, pay the application fee, and complete the submission.

2.USTB will review the application materials. If the materials do not meet the requirements, The applicant will be promptly notified to revise or supplement them.
3.USTB will finalize the admission list and notify the applicant of the admission result.
4.USTB will issue the admission notice, visa application form and other relevant materials.

China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)
Applicants for undergraduate programs are required to submit the academic transcript of China Scholastic Competency Assessment.
1. Subject Transcripts (Chinese-medium Instruction Programs)

2. Mathematics Transcript
A mathematics transcript is required for applications to all programs.
The test is conducted in English for the programs of Environmental Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering.
The test is conducted in Chinese for all other programs.
3. Physics or Chemistry Transcript
For applicants applying for programs in science, engineering, agriculture, a transcript of either Physics or Chemistry must be provided.
For specific information such as test registration, please refer to the notices on the official website of CSCA (www.csca.cn).
Admissions are based on merit, determined by the scores of each subject.
Scholarships
USTB offers scholarships on the basis of merit to help outstanding international students to study in China.
1.Chinese Government Scholarship
Including tuition fee, free accommodation, living allowance, medical insurance
Type A: Apply through the Chinese embassy in your country between November and next March. Applicants choose Type-A and “USTB” as the first choice when apply in the system. And applicants may contact us by email for Pre-Admission(csctypea@ustb.edu.cn).
Type B: Apply to USTB directly between November and next March. Applicants choose Type-B and agency number 10008 when apply in the system.
2.International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship
This includes tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance. For details, please refer to the notice on the official website (https://isc.ustb.edu.cn/).
This is primarily intended for Chinese language students. For inquiries regarding applications, please send an email to feixueli@ustb.edu.cn. The application timeline and methods vary by program type; for detailed information, refer to the scholarship program announcements.

3.USTB Chancellor Scholarship
Full scholarship includes tuition fee, free accommodation, living allowance, medical insurance;
Partial scholarship has one or some items.

4.Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students in China
Recipients are selected based on merit and divided into three tiers: Tier A, Tier B, and Tier C. The scholarship covers benefits including tuition waiver and accommodation support. For further details, please consult the university.
Applications must be submitted through the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). The application period is generally from November to May of the following year. For specific application information, please visit the official website for inquiries.
